BottleTaps is looking for knowledgeable, customer service driven individuals to join us in creating the Bay Area’s newest and best Craft Beer Experience. We prefer candidates with Cicerone, Beer Judge or beer sensory training. However, if you don’t have those but still love beer and want to learn more about it, we will help train you to achieve those certifications. We are now accepting applications for the following positions.

Essential Purpose & Duties

To provide gracious hospitality and guidance through a memorable experience at Bottle Taps for all guests of the restaurant. To assist the Bartender, and management, with the necessary duties to cultivate an excellent and reputable beer/wine service program at Bottle Taps.

To consistently improve and refine the skillset and knowledge of all resources, equipment, and product knowledge (specifically beer & wine) pertaining to the Beverage program and restaurant as a whole.

Provide proper care and attention to any specific guest requests and accommodate to the best of the restaurants ability.

Properly orchestrate all opening and closing duties pertaining to but not limited to the specific position. Assist as directed in all operational side-work duties.

Have a working knowledge of all resources and tools pertaining to the Bar Back position. Assist in the overall cleanliness of the restaurant and all equipment within.

Job Knowledge & Education Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Food Handlers Certification valid and active required.
  • Familiar with OSHA compliance and basic health regulations of CA.
  • Strong experience with beer & wine.
  • TIPS training preferred.
Skills & Traits
  • Personable with strong communication skills.
  • Guest recognition and remembrance is a plus.
  • Detailed orientated.
  • Well-groomed and professionally presentable.

Essential Purpose & Duties

To provide gracious hospitality and guidance through a memorable tasting experience at BottleTaps for all guests of the taproom. To cultivate an exquisite and reputable beer/beverage program at BottleTaps. Execute high standards of food & beverage service, adhering to all standards and guidelines set forth by BottleTaps and detailed within the service guidebook and employee handbook.

To effectively utilize the tools and resources provided to execute sales of food & beverage. To consistently improve and refine the skillset and knowledge of all resources, equipment, and product pertaining to the position.

To act as an ambassador of the taproom to the community of Pleasanton and the Tri-Valley area. To insure the well-being and safety of any guests consuming alcoholic beverage within the taproom and patio.

Assist in the inventory, accountability, and proper care and use of all beverage equipment and the beverage program. Maintain the proper functioning, maintenance and cleanliness of all bar and beverage program equipment.

Lead FOH staff members in a respectful manner. Assist in the closing duties and late-night operations of the taproom. Effectively act as a beacon of product knowledge pertaining to craft beer, wine, and all beverages served.

Provide proper care and attention to any specific guest requests and accommodate to the best of the taprooms ability.

Job Knowledge & Education Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required. Associates or 4 year college degree a plus.
  • BOH or Culinary experience a plus.
  • Food Handlers Certification valid and active required.
  • Familiar with OSHA compliance and basic health regulations of CA.
  • Strong experience with popular and historical craft beer style information and wine is required.
  • TIPS (RBS-Responsible Beverage Service) training required.
  • Cicerone and/or BJCP training highly desired and will be required upon employment
Skills & Aptitudes
  • Personable with strong communication skills. Strong customer service skills necessary.
  • Familiarity with most beer styles and ability to describe them.
  • Guest recognition and remembrance is a plus.
  • Detailed orientated, well-groomed and professionally presentable, organized and efficient.

  • Ability to properly move and produce within close quarter conditions in bar station and adjacent areas.
  • Inventory and work within climate controlled wine cellar environment often below 60 degrees Fahrenheit is required.
  • Service and proper care of guests that may become inebriated during their time within BottleTaps may be required.
  • Must be able to carry product that could exceed 50 lbs. such as beer kegs or cases of wine.
  • Ability to stay on feet for entire shift (5-8) hours.
  • Ability to handle drink trays and hot food plates in an effective and timely manner. Ability to open and properly serve beer and wine products.

Maintains the overall safety, sanitation, and cleanliness of the restaurant. Assists kitchen team in checking, receiving and storing of goods. Ensures that all cleaning tasks are being performed to the highest of standards. To consistently improve and refine the skillset and knowledge of all resources, equipment, and product knowledge of the restaurant as a whole.

Have a working knowledge of all resources and tools pertaining to the Dishwasher. Assist in the overall cleanliness of the restaurant and all equipment within.

Wash dishes, glasses, flatware, pots, and pans using dishwasher or by hand. Store clean dishes, equipment, and utensils in appropriate areas.

Clean and maintain all garbage receptacles. Sweep, scrub, vacuum floors as directed by management. Sort and maintain all trash, place in appropriate areas for pickup

Transfer supplies or equipment between storage and work areas. Clean or prepare various foods for service. Assists in food prep assignments during off-peak periods as needed

Receive and store deliveries. Maintain order and organization in all storage and refrigeration areas

Essential Purpose & Duties

Accurately and efficiently cook meats, fish, vegetables, soups and other food products as well as prepare and portion food products prior to cooking. Perform other duties in the areas of food and final plate preparation including plating and garnishing of cooked items and preparing appropriate garnishes for all hot menu item plates.

To consistently improve and refine the skillset and knowledge of all resources, equipment, and product knowledge of the restaurant as a whole.

Have a working knowledge of all resources and tools pertaining to the BOH. Assist in the overall cleanliness of the restaurant and all equipment within.

Assume 100% responsibility for quality of products served. Know and comply consistently with our standard portion sizes, cooking methods, quality standards and kitchen rules, policies and procedures.

Stock and maintain sufficient levels of food products at line stations to assure a smooth service period. Portions food products prior to cooking according to standard portion sizes and recipe specifications.

Maintain a clean and sanitary work station.

  • Minimum two years of kitchen and cooking experience.
  • Associate degree or higher a plus, with preference in Culinary studies.
  • Knowledge of beer & wine a plus.

To manage labor, COGS, sales, and financials of the business. To maintain and improve upon all service standards, SOPs, and general operations of the restaurant on a daily basis.

To effectively utilize the tools and resources provided to guide the Bottletaps team on a path of consistent success.

To act as an ambassador of the taproom, to the community of Pleasanton, and the Tri-Valley area.

To consistently improve and refine the skillset and knowledge of all resources, equipment, and product pertaining to the position.

Take proper care of specific guest requests and accommodate them to the best of the taproom’s ability while understanding restrictions set forth in the service guidebook.

To effectively manage all front-of-house (FOH) staff on a daily basis to insure financial and service goals are met.

Job Knowledge & Education Requirements
  • 5+ years of restaurant management experience or equivalent.
  • High school diploma required, Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Proven leadership traits.
  • Flexible schedule with ability to work 50+ hour work weeks, including nights, weekends and holidays.
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational & communication skills.
  • A passion for food, beer, wine, and the hospitality industry.
  • Ability to contribute to a wide variety of management tasks & operations beyond the taproom; including marketing, private party organization, community outreach, staff recognition programs, staff education programs, and much more.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Excel; proficient with standard POS and CRM systems (specifically Revel is a plus)
  • Ability to pair foods with appropriate fermented beverages.
Extra consideration to those who possess:
  • Strong beer & wine knowledge.  Sommelier a plus, Cicerone strongly preferred.  Cicerone training will be required after hire.
  • Prior Gastro-Pub experience.
  • Experience with new restaurant openings.
  • Previous experience with small plates.
  • Efficiency with Google programs (Gmail, Docs, Calendar, Drive, Sheets).
